A Hierarchical Situation Calculus
نویسنده
چکیده
A situation calculus is presented that provides a solution to the frame problem for hierarchical situations, that is, situations that have a modular structure in which parts of the situation behave in a relatively independent manner. This situation calculus is given in a relational, functional, and modal logic form. Each form permits both a single level hierarchy or a multiple level hierarchy, giving six versions of the formalism in all, and a number of sub-versions of these. For multiple level hierarchies, it is possible to give equations between parts of the situation to impose additional structure on the problem. This approach is compared to others in the literature.

Hierarchical Task Libraries in (Con) Golog
We are interested in building libraries of complex actions, or tasks, in the Situation Calculus based languages Golog and its variants. We consider simple ways of organizing tasks in a hierarchical fashion by defining generalized tasks from specialized ones. We use a military operations planning domain to illustrate these ideas.
متن کاملProgramming Hierarchical Task Networks in the Situation Calculus
Hierarchical Task Network (HTN) planning (Sacerdoti 1974) is an approach to planning where problem-specific knowledge is used to remedy the computational intractability of classical planning. This knowledge is in the form of task decomposition directives, i.e. the planner is given a set of methods that tell it how a high-level task can be decomposed into lower-level tasks. The HTN planning prob...
متن کاملConGolog, Sin Trans: Compiling ConGolog into Basic Action Theories for Planning and Beyond
ConGolog is a logical programming language for agents that is defined in the situation calculus. ConGolog agent control programs were originally proposed as an alternative to planning, but have also more recently been proposed as a means of providing domain control knowledge for planning. In this paper, we present a compiler that takes a ConGolog program and produces a new basic action theory o...
متن کاملEvent Calculus Planning Revisited
In 1969 Cordell Green presented his seminal description of planning as theorem proving with the situation calculus. The most pleasing feature of Green's account was the negligible gap between high-level logical specification and practical implementation. This paper attempts to reinstate the ideal of planning via theorem proving in a modern guise. In particular, I will show that if we adopt the ...
متن کاملA Formal Enterprise Model for Project-oriented Management of Batch Plants
Intense competition and rapid environmental changes are revealing severe limitations and drawbacks of the hierarchical and functional-oriented management system currently used by the vast majority of batch plants. In this work, a formal modeling framework for batch plants using projects and situation calculus is proposed. Projects are autonomous, temporary entities within the enterprise, in whi...
